Everyday Apologetics: Conversational Strategies for Defending Your Faith

In this class, I cover what apologetics is and is not along with 6 essentials for apologetic/spiritual conversations. The class ends with a short case study discussion to help apply the principles learned.

Movies As Mirrors: Using Film for Introspective Conversation

In this class, I break down why movies are not only fun to watch but also important to engage with on a deeper level. We look at why movies matter, how to watch movies, and common themes that help us to better see ourselves and the culture around us.

How to Read the Bible: Genre to Genre

In this class, I go through the Old Testament and New Testament, genre by genre, teaching how to approach each unique writing type we encounter in Scripture. This course is 10 sessions long, covering genres like prophecy and narrative in the Old Testament and epistles and the Gospels in the New Testament.

Worldviews: An Overview

In this class, I talk about what worldviews are and why they are important. Once the foundation is set, I then break down the world’s major worldview categories, comparing and contrasting them (naturally, a comparison of world religions comes into the equation).

Logic & Fallacies

In this class, I discuss what logic is, why it is so important to our critical thinking, and how we can apply it to our thoughts and conversations. I also go through the several formal logical fallacies and the informal ones as well, teaching how to spot them and correct them in others and ourselves.

What is a Healthy Church?

In this class, I talk about what the signs of a healthy church are. Through 5 sessions, we will talk about everything from preaching, to discipleship, to membership, to leadership and more. The goal is to use Scripture to diagnose and adjust what our churches look like through practical steps for both pastors, lay leaders, and members.

Spiritual Disciplines for Life

In this class, I begin by setting a foundation for what spiritual disciplines are, their purpose or function in our lives. Once that foundation is set, I move on to talk about specific disciplines, what they are and how to practice them biblically.

Faith Forum

Faith Forum is an event that is geared toward bringing Christians and non-Christians into conversation. The basic format of a Faith Forum event is as follows: (1) I will give a short lecture on a particular topic (such as the problem of evil, miracles, Christianity & science, etc.) to establish both the topic and put forth the Christian perspective. (2) After the lecture, there will be either a group discussion or a time of Q&A depending on the size of the gathering. I have some topics already prepared, but I am always willing to prepare new ones if there are some you would like me to cover.
